mariadb-client software package provides MariaDB database client (metapackage depending on the latest version), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install mariadb-client
mariadb-client is installed in your system.
Make ensure the mariadb-client package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep mariadb-client *
You will get with mariadb-client package name, version, architecture and description in a table
